CARL Fogarty believes that only a change of luck can stop his awesome charge towards a fourth World Superbike Championship following another double win in Italy.
The reigning World Champion claimed both races at the Misano circuit, where he had previous never won, to stretch his championship lead over team-mate Troy Corser to 55 points.
Now only California's Laguna Seca track, which stages the next round in two weeks time, remains to be conquered as a circuit which has not seen a Fogarty victory.
Corser pushed Fogarty all the way in the first race of the San Marino round yesterday.
But, after technical changes to his bike's set-up, Fogarty strolled to victory in race two.
He said: "It was incredible. I never thought I could win on this circuit.
"To win two races is an absolute dream.
"The second race was really easy, really. I wasn't really trying to be honest.
"I don't make many mistakes, but it has made up for the one I made in Germany."
Fogarty added: "There's no reason why I cannot win in America.
"Of the two circuits, I probably go better at Laguna than Misano.
"But there is no reason why I shouldn't win, even if I don't like the circuit. "My biggest competition is myself. Part of me says I can do it and part of me says I can't.
"The only thing that is going to stop me now is a bit of bad luck."
Wife, Michaela, who witnessed the Italian double with daughters Danielle and Claudia, put the achievement into perspective.
She said: "It has got to go down as one of our best weekends.
"He is having an incredible season. It is like 1995 when he was finishing first and second all year.
"Knowing Carl, I never thought for one moment that this would have happened this year.
"Last year we were scratching back points all year.
"I don't know what's changed. After winning it last year, I though it could go two ways and he might not win as much.
"But it went the other way and made his will to win even greater."
