HAVING heard that there was a garden centre on Branch Road, Lower Darwen, I decided to make my way there, with the intention of purchasing a few plants.
As I don't have private transport, I took a bus to the bottom of Cravens Brow at the corner of Branch Road, and walked the short distance to the garden centre.
I was just asking the proprietor if he did deliveries, but as he was about to answer, a young lady close by said she was just going to Darwen and would take me too. I gladly accepted her kind offer.
She delivered me and my plants 10 minutes later at my front door.
She would not accept any remuneration, not even for a charity. So it was left that I would give a small donation to my choice of charity on her behalf, which is Help The Aged.
Yes, there are still some kind people, with thought for others and it is indeed a joy to meet them from time to time. My faith in human nature is restored once again.
E CARR, Redvers Road, Darwen.
