WELL done Burnley FC who named a stand after one of their greatest players of all time, Jimmy McIlroy.
Preston have done the same with Tom Finney and Bill Shankly. Bolton Wanderers FC have done likewise for Nat Lofthouse.
I put this down to the club still having directors on the board who can still remember the great players of the past. It is their way of saying thank you for the great memory you brought to our club, and the loyalty you have shown through good and bad times.
I just wonder if there are any directors at Blackburn Rovers who can remember Bryan Douglas and Ronnie Clayton, two of the best players to put on a blue and white shirt, who had over 70 England caps between them and played over 500 games each for the Rovers.
Both could have moved on to bigger clubs and more money but they stayed with the club they both loved so much, the Rovers. It would be nice to see one stand at the Rovers named after Clayton and Douglas.
