WORKERS from a Darwen paint firm stepped into the breach when a refuge found themselves in need of a helping hand.
The Nightsafe shelter in Darwen was hoping to spruce up its Woodvale flats and staff from Imperial Home Decor Group came to the rescue.
The workers and staff from the Darwen company spent the whole day decorating the flats which are used to house homeless families.
Wendy Hobson, from Blackburn Partnership's Employment Community Help Project, help set up the scheme. She said: "We are really grateful to the staff from Imperial Home Decor Group who came and gave their time for the day.
"The company is having its own problems at the moment but they still found the spare time to come and help out the people at Nightsafe."
Gillian Shaw, from Imperial Home Decor, said: "We decided we wanted to help Nightsafe because it is a worthwhile project which is putting something back into the community."
