TAVERNERS B moved into the lead at the top of B Division of the Accrington & District Cricket League, with a seven-wicket victory over Peel Park on a poor surface at Highams.

After a good start, Peel Park were 22-0 after five overs, but the pub side were bowled out for 89. Jack Taylor took 5-40 for Taverners B and Stuart Bibby top scored with 23 not out for Peel Park. Dev Ramsingh saw his side home with 34 not out, getting good support from Chris Kennedy (15 not out) and Jack Taylor, who also chipped in with 15.

The runs continued to flow at Bullough Park as Accrington A became the third successive team to score over 200 batting first, as they created a new club record score of 217-8 against Everest. Mick Donnelly hit 77 to make the most of several fielding lapses in a formidable total which left Everest with a mountain to climb.

Paul Walsh took his wicket total to 19 for the season in taking 5-26, including what must be the catch of the season, one handed off his own bowling as Great Harwood were all out for 55.

Attock gained sweet revenge for their opening day disaster against Haslingden Methodists, winning by 21 runs at King Georges. Liquat Khan took 8-16, including a hat trick, in 11 overs as Attock bowled out Methodists for 64. Liquat dismissed Ryan Holt, Paul Hargreaves and Ben Zebrowski to polish off the innings, leaving Chris Chaplow on eight not out.

Jeff Stanton had earlier taken 6-20 for Methodists. Man of the moment Liquat Khan hit 21 and Raza Khan 27 for Attock, who are now three points clear at the top of the A Division. Taverners A remain second after a seven wicket victory over Manchester Road at Wilsons. It was a good day for the Fitzpatricks with Paul taking 5-16 and brother Colin scoring 27 not out for Taverners.

Whalley Road's dismal run continued as they crashed to Millennium. Zabair Mohammed took 3-28 and Matloob Khan 3-11 to dismiss Whalley Road for 66. Nadeem Ashraf continued his good run of form with 44 for Millennium.

Sunday's Harry Wood Cup quarter-finals were again washed out and will be played this Sunday.
