EAST Lancs-based racing cyclists travelled far afield over the weekend wearing the club colours in events across the Midlands and North of England.
Barrowford's Andy Gates produced the fast time of 20mins 35secs to take a well-deserved third place in the Don Valley event in North Nottinghamshire and Jonathan Boothman of the Pendle Forest club was third in the 20-mile Circuit of Greystoke Forest near Carlisle, while Blackburn and District CTC's Sue Cheetham took the fastest lady prize with 26mins 05secs in the Aintree Phoenix 10-mile event at Rainford.
On the fast Catterick-based 25 mile course, but on a windy evening, Dave Brown of the North Lancs Road Club finished fourth fastest from 120 starters in the North VTTA Group event with 55mins 34secs just three seconds faster than Clayton Velo's Peter Greenwood in 55mins 37secs who took fifth place.
In this event Graham Sheard (NLRC) returned 59mins 20secs, Mal Gill (NLRC) 1hr 2mins 59secs and Ralph Pilkington (NLRC) 1hr 5mins 48secs. The fastest ride on the evening was done by Rochdale's John Bunting in 53mins 59secs.
