LEIGH Constituency Conservative Association is leading the fight against a planned residents' charged parking scheme in the Railway Road area.
And everyone who opposes the plan is invited to an open meeting at the club on July 14 at 8pm.
The secretary, Malcolm Parr, has sent out format letters of objection which protesters should sign and return to the planning officer at Wigan Town Hall. This states that each resident takes strong objection to the proposal as little or no consultation has taken place.
An association spokesperson said: "The council has a duty to read each letter which, it is felt, would be more effective than submitting a petition."
