A ROMAN museum has received a £156,000 windfall from the National Lottery for a building project.
The Ribchester Roman Museum has received the heritage grant to extend into an adjoining building, improve displays and public facilities.
The building will also receive new walls, pathways and hand and groundrails.
The museum currently receives 19,000 visitors a year and it is hoped this will increase to 30,000 by 2002.
A lottery spokesman said: "This is an attractive museum of much interest to local people and visitors to the Ribble Valley. These improvements will bring the museum up-to-date and ensure the widest possible access."
