CRITICISM has been aimed at the huge number of people who did not bother to vote in recent elections, and it is implied that this apathy is an insult to those who struggled for democracy in the past.
Perhaps those who criticise do not realise that democracy itself is threatened and almost non-existent in some areas, and that voting for any of the main parties makes little or no difference.
For instance, why do councillors keep allowing building to take place, as happened at the land over at Dow Lane, so that developers have full sway?
Some councillors appear to indulge in pet left-wing schemes such as support for refugees when there is pressure already on the land for building and resources for people already here.
