WHAT about this for a six-act drama . . .
Act 1: Enter the Government, campaigning on a stridently pro-Europe manifesto.
Act 2: Enter the country, demonstrating its enthusiasm. Only one in four vote and only one in four of those who do vote accept the Government's proposition.
Act 3: Re-enter the Government, dominating radio, defiantly pro-Europe, whilst arrogantly accepting that this is their due reward for failing to "educate" the populace.
Act 4: A poll reveals that 30 per cent of the nation's captains of industry say the answer to EMU is not "when", but "never".
Act 5: Enter the PM - will he, won't he - immediately campaigning on a Euro-neutral ticket.
Act 6: Enter the chorus. All together: In-out, in-out, do the Okey Cokey.
