PIONEER '79 swimmers were the winners of the semi-final of the Mini League held at Horwich pool and are now through to the A final in October.
The 11 and 12 year olds featured competed in the Northern Counties Kellogg's Frosties 100m Age Groups held at Wigan over the weekend. Swimming in his first open meet Daniel Yates improved his 100m freestyle time by five seconds when he swam in the 12 years boys 100m freestyle.
Pioneer 79 senior swimmer Christopher Pratt took top honours in the 100m breaststroke championship, coming third. He was also reserve finalists in the 100m freestyle. Also at the championship was Alison Naylor who equalled her personnel best time in the 100m backstroke final to be placed fifth.
Rachel C Clark competed in all events for the 11 years ago group as did Sam Dunderdale 13 years, Ben Nichols 12 years, Robert West 12 year and Michael Oltowski 11 years. Stephanie Abbott, Gemma Holden and Rebecca Stones did well in the 100m butterfly event with Stephanie being placed reserve finalist.
Along with James Simpson they had to miss the first day as they were selected t swim for the Lancashire Youth Games held at QEGS pool, Blackburn.
All the girls there were placed first in the games.
Stephanie took first in the 50m butterly, Gemma the 50m freestyle, Rebecca the 50m backstroke and Shereen Malla 100m individual medley.
