A BLACKPOOL school has received a welcome vote of confidence after a recent OFSTED inspection.
Only two years on from the last inspection, St George's High was praised for its improvements despite headteacher Elizabeth Warner only having held her position for four terms.
The report said: "More parents are now choosing to send their children to St George's."
And no wonder with numbers of pupils passing GCSEs at grades A*-G up 11 per cent on the national average.
The report said: "Parents, teachers, governors and headteachers of linked primary schools indicate strong improvements in the ethos of the school, including relationships, the learning environment and the school's commitment to high achievement.
"The headteacher's commitment, drive and vision have given clear direction to the school and has been crucial to the improvements which have taken place since her appointment.
"Parents say there is a feeling of enthusiasm and drive flowing through the school.
"Vital foundations have been laid, the school has clear insight, strong motivation and also secure systems and strategies to make good improvements in the future."
Headteacher Elizabeth Warner said: "The school had worked very hard and the commitment of the staff to moving us forward had been so great I didn't want to disappoint them.
"It would have been awful if the inspector had damned us with faint praise."
