SAINTS' Past Players Association are set to do battle with their Warrington counterparts - at crown green bowls!
For the annual eyeball-to-eyeball confrontation will take place at Greenall's club, Alder Hey Road, on Saturday, July 31, from 1pm. Refreshments will be served. All seats have been booked on the coach going to the Super League Grand Final on Saturday, October 9.
Radio Merseyside commentator Alan Rooney chose Eric Ashton MBE as the first former star to relive his most memorable match on the 1485 wavelength on Sunday. Ex-Great Britain and Wigan captain and Saints director Eric selected a game versus Leeds at Central Park, when he was sent off for the only time in his 14-season career following a difference of opinion with Jack 'Farmer' Fairbank. Kevin Tamati is Alan Rooney's choice for this Sunday at 5pm.
Welshman Steve Bayliss, who played for Saints in the 1980s, is looking for memorabilia of his time at Knowsley Road. Anyone who can help is asked to contact Past Players Association secretary Geoff Pimblett on 24611.
