IF you feel lucky why not take a chance on the brand new local lottery being launched this week by the Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre Society for the Blind.
The lottery offers the local community the chance to support their local Blind Society and offers the chance to win a share of £1,500.
A launch party is taking place on Friday (July 2) at the Princess Alexandra Home for the Blind attended by Mo Moreland and the Roly Polys and the first draw will take place on October 1.
Civic dignitaries, MPs and prominent Fylde business people have also been invited, together with many supporters and friends of the Blind Society.
The new lottery offers the chance to win a weekly jackpot of £1,000 plus a share of another £500. During the next few weeks canvassers wearing special identity badges will call at homes throughout the area to explain the rules of the game and arrange for collection of the £1 a week it costs for a personal number to enter the draw.
The system the organisers will be using for the lottery has been extremely successful in other parts of the country and they anticipate it being so in the Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde areas.
Organisers also hope the ambitious scheme will raise vital funds to improve the Princess Alexandra Home for the Blind which will allow the provision of en-suite facilities and allow the high standard of accommodation to be maintained.
Money will also be used to fund some of the £250,000 running cost of other vital services including the Talking Newspaper, the Resource Centre and social centres.
