HAYDOCK completed a fine double over Rufford, with wins for the first and second teams in the Southport and District League.
The firsts easily accounted for Rufford as their bowlers were simply too quick for the home batsmen.
Adrian Barr proved his worth once again with a fine return of 4-14. Andy Bentham was also outstanding his left arm over action was simply too good for Rufford and he took a marvellous 4-29. Dave Burrows 1-25 took a back seat as Rufford were pavilion bound for 97.
Haydock came out in determined mood and set about the job in hand in fine style. Rob Burke was back to his best his scintillating unbeaten 44 was the highlight of the Haydock innings.
Billy Hurst was determined not to get out and carried his bat for 23 as Haydock reached 101-1 in 15.2 overs and took full points.
Haydock seconds also came up trumps as they beat Rufford seconds by six wickets.
Batting first, the Rufford batsmen came under early pressure as Haydock's bowlers were on good form.
Steve Plant returned 3-34 and Paul Roberts proved he has a bright future as his 3-22 suggests. Alan Lever 2-25 chipped in as Rufford were restricted to 135-8.
Haydock's batsmen were fired up for this one, Gareth Bourhill put the bowlers to the sword with a strong display of batting. He cut and pulled his way to a fine 72. Mike Fogarty also got in on the act, always a threat with the bat Mike was due for a good knock and this came at the right time, his brilliant 52 not out was right out of the top drawer as Haydock reached 136-4 and another fine win.
