HINDLEY Green residents are forming battle plans to halt a massive new housing development scheme in their area, and save their quality of life.
They claim building on the site behind Corner Lane - Carr Common Road and the Taylor Road estate will swallow up the last green site and wreck the location.
A public meeting is to be arranged shortly, and as soon as details are available, they will be displayed in the area.
Leading protester John Vickers, of Carr Common Road, said: "Letters of objection are being delivered in the area, and to date the opposition to the prospect of losing the last green in Hindley Green has been overwhelming.
"Those 'up in arms' please don't think for one minute that you are in the minority, fighting a losing battle.
"Repeatedly people's expressed views are that more new houses are not wanted or needed in Hindley Green, which has neither a communications network nor facilities to support its present levels of development.
"No-one wants to see our area finally ruined.
"We trust our three Councillors will assure their ward members that we have their support in wishing to retain some quality of life in an area already given over to unacceptable levels of residential development, and that they will oppose Wigan's planning application."
