THE manageress of a firm was attacked by a robber who snatched a bag of cash as she made her way to an Accrington post office.
The 32-year-old woman was targeted as she crossed Avenue Parade in the town at 12.05pm yesterday.
She was grabbed by a man who tore a cash bag from her grasp and made off towards a waiting car in Water Street.
The car, which was being driven by a second man, sped off towards Alice Street.
Police said the cloth bag, which bore the words "Post Office £500" contained a three figure sum of money.
The women was unhurt but was left shocked by the attack.
The robber was white, in his late teens or early twenties, 5ft 10ins, slim, with short or mid-length brown hair which appeared to be thinning at the front. He had a fair complexion and was clean shaven. He wore a dark blue, zip-up jacket and dark blue trousers tucked into his socks.
The man in the car was also white. The vehicle was a beige or cream coloured, small or medium car, with a registration plate beginning either E66 or B66.
A spokesman for Accrington CID said: "This lady was going to deposit some money in Avenue Parade post office when she was attacked.
"It was lunchtime and would have been busy in the street. The driver of the car was revving its engine. "
