FIREFIGHTERS at Parr Stocks station are swapping their hosereels for wet sponges and buckets of soapy water on Saturday, July 3.
They will be washing cars from 9am to raise money for the National Fire Service Benevolent Fund and a local disabled child.
The car wash costs just £1.50 and everyone who calls in will receive a discount voucher to be redeemed at the Car Shack in St Helens, sponsors of the event.
There will be yellow helmets and other Benevolent Fund goodies on sale, and you can enter a raffle with first prize of an hour's flying for two in a light aircraft. Other prizes include Saints stand tickets and a weekend pass to the Thistle Hotel Leisure Suite.
The charity fund-raising ends when the firefighters hold a summer ball at Parr Stocks Fire Station on Sunday, August 13. Tickets for the ball cost £5 and include a chicken-and-chips dinner, dancing to live band, Levern and disco. With beers at £1 and doubles, £1.50, tickets are going fast - so contact the station now.
