THE family of a 55-year-old grandfather, who was beaten up outside a chip shop in April, have offered a £200 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the offender.
The incident happened just after midnight on Saturday, April 17 as the victim, who doesn't wish to be identified, was standing outside the Chipmunk chippy on the corner of Boundary Road and Pigot Street.
A younger man started to shout at him from across the road, then ran over and began throwing punches. The victim fell to the ground unconscious and was later treated in Whiston Hospital for severe facial injuries including a broken nose and cheekbone and a fractured jawbone.
The attacker was white, aged about 30, with an average build and was wearing a black woolly hat. A window was broken at a Pigot Street address at about the same time and police believe this may have some relevance to the assault.
Anyone with information can contact the CID office in St Helens on 0151 777 6064 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
