Stable Tips
SAFFIZZ is to have an operation this week for a soft palate after the vet said he had a 'flag' twice the size it should be.
This has caused a lack of oxygen when he comes under pressure in races and has definitely restricted him in the closing stages.
We expect a big improvement when he returns in about a month, but his big target for this year is still the £200,000 Doncaster St Leger sales race, with prize money down to eighth place.
Our next runner will be Swan at Whalley at Doncaster on July 14.
I have had strong words from Newmarket where there is some excellent racing this week for Henry Cecil's Craigstee Land Capri.
Put Rowa, a very speedy Cecil two-year-old, into your notebook. Cape Verdi and Sea Wave of the Godolphin team have also been stunning on the gallops.
Tomorrow David Loder is bringing City On A Hill over from France and will take all the beating. Fallon and Cecil should take the 5.20 with Eminence Grise.
On Thursday, I go for Lochangel in the July Cup. It is one of my sprinters to follow and I think this sister of Lochsong will take all the beating at a fair price.
At Chester on Friday, Damalis - trained by Eric Alston - will take some catching with Willie Supple in the saddle, but she must be drawn five or lower. At York on Friday Dee Pee Tee Cee who we have done well following, should make it a five-timer.
Have a good week.
Wednesday 3.40 Newmarket - Valentine Waltz (Nap)
Thursday 3.05 Newmarket - Lochangel (Nap)
Friday 3.40 York - Dee Pee Tee Cee (Nap)
