HAVING heard on the grapevine that Lancashire Constabulary's Chief Constable Pauline Clare, is closing the Lancashire Constabulary police canteen at Leyland's police station, to save funds, I am not surprised that the police are up in arms over the grim prospects of no more hot meals, only vending machines and sandwiches.
So much for Assistant Chief Constable John Vine (Letters, June 23) saying police are taking action over health and fitness. In reality, our boys in blue are like Oliver Twist, saying "please can we have some more hot meals and nourishment?"
