I AM truly ecstatic that readers and contributors to the Letters Page, such as Granville Broadhurst, have their fingers on the pulse of elections, whether these are the ones concerning local or European elections.

Perhaps when Jon Snow, the television pundit, gives up his 'Election Night specials' Granville can take over.

After all, the public need light relief.

While it is true that the Tories under Hague's leadership made gains, their position on the swingometer was so far down before the actual voting on PR for the European elections league they could not have gone down any further if they had been u-boat commanders.

On the question of Mr Blair's lacklustre performance and the voter apathy, a few questions still need answers.

Tony Blair however had a little matter of Kosovo on his mind and the graves of what appears to be literally scores of people murdered by the rebel forces.

As for workers' morale in the Labour party, it is good to know that a non-active and non-Labour supporter really thinks he knows that the morale is bad.

Unfortunately Granville, and I'm only speaking for myself, of course, I believe that it is a small setback and really nothing to be overly concerned about.
