SOLICITOR Ebrahim Foolat has made history by becoming the first Asian Muslim partner at a law firm in East Lancashire.

Ramsbottom and Co have expanded the partnership to five through the appointment of 34-year-old Mr Foolat who has worked for the practice in Blackburn since first joining on a summer placement back in 1987.

He initially joined the firm on a placement and went on to work as a clerk and an associate having qualified as a solicitor in 1982.

Born in Dewsbury, Mr Foolat gained his law degree after studying at the University of Central Lancashire in Preston and Manchester Metropolitan University.

Married to Rokaiya with three children Ismail, Tasneem and Saarah, Mr Foolat, who lives in the Audley area, is a well-known figure in East Lancashire.

He is a governor of Blackburn College and honorary solicitor to the Lancashire Council of Mosques.

Mr Foolat, who speaks both Gujrati and Urdu, is a specialist in personal injury and civil litigation work.
