PUPILS from Witton Park High School, Blackburn, have been getting creative during the school's ninth annual Arts Week, which ends today.
The week focused on expressive and performing arts, which are an important and rewarding part of the curriculum for all pupils in the school.
Pupils in years seven, eight and nine took part. Artists from the local community provided demonstrations as well as working alongside pupils to help them develop their skills and techniques.
Guests included graphic illustrators Marion McTaggart and Judith Tomlinson, ceramics specialist Margaret Atkin and Louise Walmsley, an expert in Fine Art.
Noel Coombes was also running a session on photo journalism, working with a small group of year nine pupils. Mr Coombes is a freelance photographer and has worked for the Daily Mirror. He has recently exhibited at the University of Central Lancashire, depicting black life in England as part of the "Year Against Racism".
Throughout the year, professional artists have visited the school to work alongside pupils of all ages and abilities on a range of projects from ceramic design to art and dance.
