GOOD on ex-councillor Morris advocating that more use be made of our Radcliffe history, particularly the old Tower.

This has been suggested for years by other Radcliffe people.

When you consider the cost in both money and time being spent in Bury scratching for some old stones and kidding themselves it was a castle, then Radcliffe Tower, with its well-documented history and legend, is justifiably a better case for development in respect of tourism.

We have some very old stones here in Radcliffe and I am sorry to say we have some new ones as well.

I think opening a museum here is a good idea; nostalgia and reminiscing is pleasant for many people. Perhaps we could get back some of our gold and silverware from Bury to put on display here.

Harking back to the past has proved very popular by the television Time Team. Our once bustling mill town has gone, but we still have our memories. Nobody knows what the future holds, but we can help things along a bit by cashing in on what we have.

We can't turn back the clock, the factories will not come back. But here in Radcliffe, practically in the centre of the town, we have a usable canal, a fairly clean river, and a good part of a mediaeval building - items that many other towns would give their eye-teeth for - just asking for development.

Also I see that someone is complaining about using glass in bus stations. I thought all bus stations had glass - safety glass, anyway.

When I go for a walk now and again, after a while I look for somewhere to sit and rest, but I can't because all the forms have been vandalised and the remaining bits removed.

The forms should be replaced and also bus shelter glass should be replaced when necessary.

Vandalism has become a fact of life; the authorities either can't or won't stop it, so we have to put up with it.

If the Two-Can Stupids keep damaging public property as they do, these things should be replaced. After all, this is why we pay our council tax; it should not all go into education.

Furthermore, if we had a museum they could perhaps visit it and get to know their heritage and begin to take some pride in Radcliffe.
