ALEXANDRA moved up into second place in the Ovalworld Super League following their 6-0 victory over early season pacesetters Bamber Bridge.
Home captain Vincent O'Donnell opened the scoring with a well-deserved 21-15 win after overturning a 15-13 deficit.
Reg Horman won comfortably 21-14 while Harry Hargreaves held on to win 21-17 and make it 3-0 at half time.
The second half had its ups and downs for the homesters after Neil Harvey stepped in as last-minute replacement and duly obliged 21-12.
First Brian Tomlinson looked to be coasting at 16-5 but Bamber Bridge captain Phil Parkinson made a great recovery.
Indeed, at 18-18 it was looking like an upset before Brian clinched the last three points.
Meanwhile, Terry Connell trailed 19-9, and after some close shaves came back to win 21-20 and clinch the clean sweep 6-0.
Witton completed only their second win in six matches when they crushed Sunnybank 5-1 on home turf.
Brian Haworth, who is back to his best, gave the visitors sole consolation with a well-deserved 21-16 win.
Mick Lee who gains in confidence with every performance, won 21-11 and Peter Slinger who romped home 21-8, opened the homesters account.
The second half was one-way traffic as Witton took all three points thanks to Bill Green 21-14 and Alan Fish 21-10.
Brian Hoole made up the trio of triumphs after edging out Robert Haworth who gave a good account before going down 21-19.
Stacksteads have had a good season until recent slip ups and their 4-2 home defeat by leaders St Annes has virtually ended their championship hopes. Geoff Alderson led the home side in the first half with a comfortable 21-12 win, while Louis Stevenson continued to produce the goods with another competent performance, 21-15.
However, the match was turned on its head after the break as St Annes took all three points.
Ian Heys almost gave Stacksteads a share of the spoils, but was foiled by a last-gasp winner in a thrilling 21-20 reverse.
Lostock had a strong squad out against Ighten Mount and took all six points to keep them well in touch with the leading group of teams.
Frenchwood crushed bottom club Fishwick Ramblers 5-1 and remain well placed.
