I AM writing to thank County Councillor Richard Toon for his comments (Letters, July 2) about traffic-calming in Hyndburn and to assure him that not all the residents share the views of Coun Adrian Shurmer.
Perhaps if Coun Shurmer spent a little more time and effort persuading motorists to obey the law, such as those who regularly break the speed limit on the road outside our house, there would be fewer calls for traffic-calming.
Until then, some of us will welcome any measure that makes the roads safer, especially for children and pedestrians.
