RUBEROID Sutton Cricket Club came away from St Asaph on Saturday empty handed.
Batting first, they were cruising on 129-1 but slumped to 152 all out. Five lbw decisions did not help.
Sutton then bowled and fielded well but never had quite enough runs on the board and St Asaph won by four wickets. Best for Sutton were SS Das with 77 and Sean Anders with 46.
The Second team were at home against St Asaph. Batting first Sutton were soon in trouble at 20-4 and then 60-7. Some good rearguard batting from Geoff Bowles saw Sutton reach 172 all out. Despite some excellent bowling and fielding St Asaph reached their target for the loss of seven wickets.
The previous Thursday saw the First XI play Liverpool Nalgo in the quarter final of the Lever Cup. Batting first Sutton reached 112 in their 20 overs. Sutton then restricted Nalgo to 82 all out to progress to the semi-finals.
On Sunday the FirstXI played Aigburth in the quarter final of the Kaufman Cup. Batting first Aigburth were restricted to 176 from their 45 overs. Batting second Sutton suffered their second collapse of the weekend and were bowled out for 88.
