HOST team Haydock A won the St Helens Rounders League's Oystons Family Tournament.
And Rainhill were runners-up in the competition in which teams were required to field up to four men and one child in a team of nine.
On the league front, a depleted Rainhill side declared at 13-13 against Grasshoppers.
Schoolgirl Kelly McDougal, bowling for just the second time, was Rainhill's secret weapon, with Grasshoppers scoring just three full rounders, coming from Carol Wilkinson (2) and Janette Hill.
Rainhill's more consistent batting, particularly from Carol Whittaker, Annemarie Nacey, Ruth Thorogood and Sarah Johnston, ensured the win.
Saturday July 10 sees the first fixtures in the National League and the St Helens girls travel to Nottingham.
The squad comprises members from nine of the league's 12 teams and all have been selected for both batting and fielding ability.
The squad includes:
Diane Thomas (United Gladiators); Gill Crawford (TNT Lynx); Julie Hilton (TNT Lynx); Annemarie Nacey (Rainhill); Linda Graham (Bobbies Lane); Patti Howell (Haresfinch); Michelle Rigby (Pilkington Vikings); Lynn Filson (Windle City); Denise Cotham (Windle City); Yvonne Tinsley (Harsefinch); Julie Derbyshire (Sutton CC).
