BILLINGE CC enjoyed a double success at the weekend.
On Saturday they travelled to top-of-the-table Winwick and scored a convincing 130 runs win.
Batting first, Billinge scored a creditable 178-4 thanks largely to a majestic 96 not out from Andy Lyons with Carl Stockley playing the anchorman role with a chanceless 23 not out.
In reply Winwick were bowled out for a paltry 48 due to some hostile bowling by Mike Grime (4-20) and an excellent spell of line and length bowling by Carl Stockley (4-6).
And on Sunday Billinge added the Walker Cup, to the already claimed Hanson Cup by beating Action in a thriller at Earlestown.
On winning the toss Billinge elected to bat, but were soon in deep trouble, thanks to fine bowling by A McDonald (2-19) and Jay Taylor (2-12) but powerful middle order batting got them out of the hole they had helped dig for themselves.
M Mousdell hitting a swashbuckling 28 and Carl Stockley an effortless 35 with back up from the Ryan Brothers. P Ryan 16 and M Ryan 17 not out.
When Billinge came in to bowl they made regular in roads into the Action batting order, helping them to take a stranglehold on the match.
This was mainly due to excellent fielding, which backed up all the excellent bowling by in particular, M Grime (2-25) and a devastating 3-16 by man of the match Carl Stockley.
