THE parishioners of St Joseph's Catholic Church Slyne Road, Lancaster, are to launch their own community initiative from Saturday July 10 at 1pm. The opening ceremony will herald a six-month Community Outreach programme, which will culminate in a candlelit procession.
The opening day is to be a community fun and get to know you day, with stalls, bouncy castle and displays. Representatives from community groups will be present and interest has been expressed by other denominational churches. An Alpha Christian course will start in September. The culmination of the course will be the candlelit procession at 6.30pm on the eve of the new millennium proceeding around Skerton stopping at each church.
Transport for the elderly is being planned. If you can offer some time to help contact your church, vicar, priest, or ring 849464 or 843816.
