IT was raining cat's and dog's food in Morrisons during a supermarket trolley dash after the winner headed straight for the pet section.
Julie Bray of Heysham couldn't believe it when she won a 100-second trolley dash to mark the supermarket's centenary.
And when given the chance to help herself to anything in the store, Julie decided to dash to the pet section and stock up on food for the animals at Animal Care.
"It was quite a strange being the only shopper in the store and I was a bit self-conscious but the staff at Morrison's were very nice," said Julie, who puppy walks guide dogs.
"I'd entered the competition and not thought twice about it. One of my puppies had a birthday on the same date as the centenary and when I won I decided to stock up on pet food and donate it all to Animal Care. One hundred seconds is over in a flash and there were certain rules such as you couldn't get more than one of each item. But it was good fun and I'm very happy to have helped Animal Care."
When Julie's laden trolley was put through the check-out it came to just over £80 and she donated the various tins and bags of cat and dog food to the manager at Animal Care, Val Harwood.
"We were delighted to receive this food," said Val. "As a charity we rely on donations from the public and it was great that Julie thought of us when given the chance to have a trolley dash through a supermarket. We've got plans to completely rebuild the kennels and we'd welcome anyone who'd like to help with fund-raising."
