IT'S the big cricket derby for the area this weekend when Lancaster entertain Morecambe at Lune Lane.
Morecambe must be the favourites as they have only lost three times this season compared to Lancaster's seven defeats.
Morecambe 211-7
Leyland 122-8
MORECAMBE had to settle for a winning draw after the visitors never made any real attempt to go for the runs for victory.
Put in to bat, Morecambe scored 211-7 off their allotted overs. Opener Mark Woodhead top scored with 55. His innings lasted 101 minutes and he hit 7 fours off 73 balls. He shared a second wicket partnership of 67 with Morecambe professional Ashwell Prince who made 31. David Greenwood, restored to the first team, contributed 34 and Tommy Clough chipped in with 29.
When Leyland went into bat Morecambe captain Phil Thornton tried seven different bowlers including himself. Ashwell Prince was the most successful, taking 3 for 16.
Chorley 149-5
Lancaster 148
LANCASTER suffered their seventh league defeat of the season when they lost to Chorley by five wickets at Windsor Park.
Put in to bat, they lost their captain David Heywood with only one run on the board. Phil Dennison and professional Raj Hans restored the balance with a 54 runs partnership for the second wicket before the former was caught by Josh Marquet off leg-spinner Keith Eccleshare for 24.
