GET out your Union Jacks... Lytham's own version of the Last Night Of The Proms is tuning up.
Brainchild of Sue Swindell, who works at British Aerospace, Warton, the Proms style concert will take place by the Windmill, Lytham Green, this Sunday (July 11).
Sue gained inspiration for the concert to raise money for charity after watching the traditional one at the Royal Albert Hall, London.
But despite being a huge fan of classical music for many years, Sue has suffered hearing problems since her mid to late teens.
So as well as the event raising money for the Leukaemia Research Fund, The Royal National Institute for the Blind is also set to benefit.
Sue said: "Deafness and music aren't normally associated. But if the funds raised from this event go some way to raising awareness of issues relating to the deaf then it will be greatly beneficial."
Heralding the start of the event at 5pm will be a quarter peal on the bells of St John's Church. Six members of the Fylde branch of the Lancashire Association of Change Ringers will attempt the feat which comprises 1,260 changes and lasts approximately 45 minutes.
The concert starts at 6pm with a performance by Freckleton Brass Band while the National Chamber Orchestra play at 8pm culminating in a massive firework display at 11pm.
Tickets are available from tourist offices at St Annes (tel: 01253 725610) and Lytham (01253 794405) or the Lowther Pavilion cafe (01253 735523) at £16.50 for adults and £8.25 for OAPs and children aged 5-12.
