LUCKY Fairfield residents have won their fight to protect open land.
Developers wanted to build 13 houses on land off Woodgate Hill Road, Bury.
Many of the houses would have been detached, although the scheme included a block of three town houses and a pair of semis.
Planning chiefs agreed with objectors that the Morris Homes development would be totally out of character with the existing cottage properties and rejected the application.
