A NATIONWIDE walk to celebrate the history and achievements of Britain's working communities is launched tomorrow night.
Plans for the JOGLE 2000 march, which will take place next year from John O'Groats to Land's End, is officially unveiled at the Waterloo Hotel on Manchester Road, Bury.
Adding their support are the Mayor of Bury, Councillor John Costello, and BAFTA award winner Anita Pandolfo, who has written TV shows Cops and Picking Up The Pieces.
The march is supported by local trade unions and will raise funds for numerous causes, particularly Bury Unemployed Workers Centre.
It is being seen as an alternative to the official Millennium celebrations, celebrating 1,000 years of working class diversity, culture and struggle and the role that ordinary people have played in history.
Entertainment starts at 8pm with folk duo Lynne and Barrie Hardman, poet Mark Abraham and singer/songwriter Maria.
