A STUDENT will become the youngest landlord in Blackburn after buying a popular town centre bar.
Economics student Dan Hook has taken over at the Cellar Bar and plans to open for business next Friday.
The 21-year-old, who is studying at Leeds University, aims to breathe new life into the King Street bar which hit financial trouble earlier this year.
The Cellar Bar has been closed for some time after the last owner Carl Robert Gilmour went bankrupt.
Mr Gilmour had ambitious plans to revamp the building which dates back to the 1700s but the receivers had to be called in.
Former Queen Elizabeth Grammar School pupil Dan is hoping to continue with his studies and run the bar at the same time and has already spruced up the beer garden and revamped the bar area.
He said: "At first it's going to be a bit hectic but pub management is something I have always wanted to be a part of.
"When the opportunity arose to take on the Cellar Bar I just jumped at the chance."
Dan added: "I can't wait to pull that first pint. I have managed to get a 1am licence, and have organised local DJs and live bands to add a bit of variety to Blackburn's nightlife.
"I am hoping to develop a good quality bar, live entertainment and a warm, welcoming feel."
