TWENTY-five years ago George Fairweather opened the Royal British Legion sheltered housing complex at Padiham named in his honour.
And next Saturday Royal British Legion stalwart Mr Fairweather will return to launch the silver anniversary celebrations.
Mr Fairweather received the OBE in 1986 for services to the Royal British Legion. Over the years he has served as president, secretary, chairman, pensions officer and poppy day organiser for the Padiham branch.
He is a former North West chairman and was also chairman of the first Legion housing scheme which was named after him. The 36 flats complex is now run by Housing 21.
Residents association committee member Elizabeth Morris said: "It is a friendly place and we all get along well."
