BRITAIN'S biggest jazz festival is under way, with American legends looking set to dominate proceedings.

The 14th Wigan International Jazz Festival kicked off yesterday and runs until Wednesday.

Stateside artists set to feature strongly include Steps Ahead, New York Voices, the Bill Holman Big Band and Dennis Noday.

The Ted Heath Orchestra, the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, and the Wigan Youth Jazz Orchestra are among the British bands set to perform.

Fringe events are set to be bigger than ever this year, with jazz-themed events at pubs and venues in the town. Call 01942 825677.
