LIVING to be a grand old age is something of a tradition for Edith Aspinall's family.
Her brother lived to be 93, and her sister lived to be 98, but today Edith celebrates her 100th birthday.
And all her friends at Feniscliffe Bank Home for the Elderly, Blackburn, held a party.
Edith has lived in Blackburn all her life.
She worked as a weaver in various mills throughout the town and lived a quiet life with her husband, Tom, who died in 1981.
When he died she went to live with her sister who passed away in 1995.
Joan Crossland, acting third officer at Feniscliffe Bank, said: "Although she is in a wheelchair Edith is in quite good health and has a good appetite.
"She is very close to her two nieces and is a lovely quiet and caring lady."
