THE NAMES of two more retailers moving into Blackburn's newest shopping area are expected to be revealed by developers by the end of this month.

Bosses at Arwood Properties who are responsible for the Town's Moor development between Great Bolton Street and Russell Street say negotiations are nearing completion with two retailers to take up two of the three remaining plots on the site.

Wickes Home Improvements, Blockbuster Video, What Everyone Wants discount stores and North Shoe Ltd retailers have already agreed to take plots.

It has been predicted that 120 jobs will be created once the retail park opens for business with Wickes alone taking up 30 of those posts.

The site has been leased by Blackburn with Darwen Council to developers and the town hall will benefit from cash raised.

Ardwood spokesman David Barlow said: "We are in negotiations with two parties and expect to have an announcement to make at some stage in the next two weeks.

"The building work is still on schedule and things are running to plan for an opening in mid-August for Town's Moor."

Council planning bosses granted the scheme the go-ahead in 1997, saying it would form part of their masterplan to revitalise and expand the town centre.
