A MAJOR refurbishment of the town's sheltered housing scheme would mean council house tenants digging deep in their pockets.
Labour councillors were angry that Ribble Valley tenants would have to foot the bill for spiralling building costs. They claimed ratepayers should pick up the tab for the refurbishment of Townley House in Clitheroe.
Councillor Bert Jones claimed that council tenants would face rent increases of 74p a week.
