CHORLEY boss Ken Wright has pulled off a major coup by arranging a friendly against a Manchester United XI as part of his side's pre-season build-up.
The Magpies' game against a United XI at Victory Park on Thursday August 5 is the highlight of their friendly programme which kicks off tonight with a home match against Preston North End (kick off 7pm).
Wright has also pencilled in away fixtures against North West Trains League neighbours Ramsbottom United and Clitheroe as well as trips to Formby and Salford City.
Meanwhile, winger Colin Potts has slapped in a transfer request following the Magpies relegation to the UniBond First Division.
Midfielder Steve Aspinall has also expressed his desire to quit the club and Wright has had talks with Gary Thomas over his future at Victory Park.
But striker Steve Shaughnessy, who was assistant to previous boss Dalton Steele, has already been released.
"Colin Potts has asked to be put on the transfer list but he has said he will remain committed to the club for as long as he remains with us," said Wright.
"Steve Aspinall also wants to go but we still have his registration so if anyone wants him they'll have to pay accordingly.
"But as far as numbers go, there isn't a problem. We had 32 at training last week.
"But it's about quality and we are looking a bit light up front so that's something I need to address."
