FORMER king of the kop Ian Rush will not be making an appearance in Accrington Stanley's friendly with Wrexham at the Crown Ground on Friday night.
Rush and Stanley were once linked together in a famous Milk Marketing Board advert during the mid 80s.
But the ex-Anfield ace has rejected the Welshmen's offer of a new contract and has now quit the club in order to pursue a career in coaching.
Wrexham boss Bryan Flynn is still expected to bring his full first team squad for the friendly, which kicks off at 7pm.
And Stanley spokesman John DeMaine is still anticipating a bumper crowd, despite the fact Rush will now be missing.
"It's a shame Ian isn't playing, especially after the success of the advert.
"But if he sends us his address, we'll still send him the crate of milk we had waiting for him," quipped DeMaine.
