BURNLEY'S multiplex Cinema has taken £12,000 in advance bookings for the blockbuster movie of the year - Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, which opens tomorrow..

More than half of the screens at Apollo Cinema, in Hollywood Park, will be devoted to showing the film for at least the next two weeks.

Assistant manager Lisa Bradshaw said: "The four big screens, two with 341 seats, two at 238, and the licensed director's auditorium are all screening Star Wars. Showings are almost every half hour.

"We started taking bookings on July 1 and since them we have had 2,500 seats booked netting £12,000 and most of those were in the first week.

"There are still seats available for the first three days, but only the odd one or two so I would recommend people book two to three days in advance."
