BEFORE Christmas last year I requested for Haydock some new bus shelters from Merseytravel and also suggested a bus lay-by before the Andrew Douglas car sales.
I received a reply saying a bus lay-by was not reasonable but we would be having new shelters.
Today I was able to speak with the Roads and Transportation Strategy Officer named Mr John Harrison who implied that they should investigate this site once more, because of the nuisance of parked cars and sandwich boards on the pavement which obstruct right of way for pedestrians. Sometimes in the rush to catch the bus, you have to run almost into the road so as not to miss the oncoming bus.
I know that 30 years ago a row of cottages was demolished there so as to make the road wider, why was this not done?
Come along all you bus passengers who board at the Hunstman stop, call into the planning office at the town hall or write a letter to Mr Harrison as soon as possible before the new bus shelter is installed there. It makes no difference just to complain to each other.
