I FEEL compelled to write and urge the people of Bury to take a look at the total devastation of what was once a truly beautiful wildlife haven, namely the Barracks lodge.
The lodge can be accessed via Orpington Drive or Haig Road, off Bolton Road, and I would be interested to hear readers' views about its present condition.
The developers, Stately Developments, are waiting to see if the council's planning refusal can be over-ruled. However, I feel their appeal should not be heard because of the arrogant way in which they have gone about destroying this lodge.
Additionally, the residents feel that the building of 14 houses does not warrant the destruction of wildlife through the draining of the lodge and the axing of trees.
Stately Developments have a lot to answer for. I just pray that it all backfires on them.
CONCERNED RESIDENT,
Elton, Bury.
