WE would be grateful if we could appeal through your letters pages for people to train as lip-reading teachers.
As a result of the help from the Citizen, we have been able to find and train some excellent lip-reading teachers who have been able to help more than 8.7million hearing impaired people living in the UK get more out of life.
Currently, there is a shortage of lip-reading teachers in areas reached by your newspaper.
We have been given European Social Fund money to help students with their costs and we hope that this will enable people to attend the course who would otherwise be prevented from attending.
Lip-reading teaching can provide a fulfilling part-time and even full-time career for a person with the right qualities.
For information about the training courses, please write to Anita Clokie, The Manchester Metropolitan University, Elizabeth Gaskell Campus, Hathersage Road, Manchester, M13 OJA.
