A CARNIVAL atmosphere gripped the Moss Side area of Leyland at the weekend as dozens of people turned-up for the thrilling 25th Silver Jubilation celebration.
In the scorching summer sun Marshside Brass Band, from Southport, and members of the Leyland St James' Scout group lead a procession from the Dunkirk Hall to the Community Centre, off Dunkirk Lane, where revellers enjoyed a host of stalls and amusements.
As well as bouncy castles, a fun fair ride and trampolines, party-goers were treated to an assortment of fun-filled entertainments.
Children from Moss Side CP School in Paradise Lane and youngsters from the nearby St James' CE School, in Slater Lane, united for a lively country dancing display.
While energetic members of the Kabushi Karate Club, from Bamber Bridge, treated fun seekers to a action-packed demonstration.
And, after six months in the making, a 4091-tiled mosaic created by schoolchildren at Moss Side CP School was unveiled opposite the community centre by head teacher Janis Burdin and class teacher Dawn Collins.
The Drumdance music group brought an African feel to the event with pounding drum beats and Leyland-based girl band Kindred won huge acclaim for their renditions of Spice Girls' hits.
Moss Side Silver Jubilation committee spokesman John Steele said: "More than 1,000 people came to the event and enjoyed a magnificent day. Moss Side in Leyland is now on the celebration map."
