ST ANNES IV battled hard in the heat after their opponents Stanley B batted first in their Fylde League division 2 match and reached 118-8.

Dave Gamble took the honours with a smooth 5-21, while Nigel Connolly was unplayable with his eight overs costing a mere two runs.

Matt Dougall looked the part with a promising debut of 1-11, while his father John continued an impressive season as keeper with three more catches.

The batting reply started steadily, but after Duncan Webb (52 not out) joined opener Nigel Bernstein (35), the acceleration took place and St Annes reached 120-3 for another victory.
